研究内容
 地球の表層は短波長の太陽放射を吸収し、自ら長波長の地球放射を宇宙空間に射出することにより、エネルギー収支のバランス を保っています。その中で太陽放射と地球放射の時空間分布のアンバランスを解消すべく、風や海流、蒸発、雲、降水など様々な 現象が生じることになります。
私たちの部門では、太陽放射と地球放射が大気中の雲やエアロゾル、水蒸気などによってどのような影響を受け、どのように変 動しているのかということを解明すべく研究を進めています。そのために、地上での様々な波長の放射収支観測に加えて、レー ダーやライダーのような能動型リモートセンシングと光からマイクロ波までの様々な波長の放射計を用いた受動型リモートセンシ ングによる研究、また、これらのセンサーを搭載した人工衛星のデータを利用した研究を行なっています。さらに、気候モデルや 雲力学モデル、大気化学輸送モデルなどを用いて研究を行なっている他の大学・研究機関とも協力しながら、気候変動や大気汚染 における放射過程の役割についても研究を進めて行きます。
